There are some beautiful places for keen walkers with waterfalls to admire in and around Nottinghamshire.
Whether you’re looking for the perfect photo opportunity or just want a great place to stop and enjoy a break, the East Midlands has some great options.
If you fancy a nice winter walk and don’t want to stray too far from home, these places are great places to visit.
Highfields Park, Nottingham

If you want to walk by a waterfall and don’t want to travel miles to do it, look no further than Highfields Park.
The park, located off University Boulevard, is popular for its boating lake and miniature golf course.
It borders the University of Nottingham campus and has 121 acres for people to enjoy.
Next to the lake there is also a waterfall that is the perfect photo opportunity.
Newstead Abbey

Newstead Abbey in Nottinghamshire features a series of waterfalls created when the River Leen fed the abbey’s lakes and ponds.
Some are cascading waterfalls, but one of the most impressive is this one between Upper Lake and Garden Lake.
It also has a converted medieval abbey house for visitors to enjoy.
Chatsworth house
There are a number of waterfalls in Chatsworth including Trought Waterfall, Sowter Stone Waterfall and The Aquaduct.
It is about an hour away near Bakewell in Derbyshire and is a very popular destination for visitors and keen walkers.
Bradgate Park

The River Lin, Leicestershire’s shortest river, flows through Bradgate Park.
This waterfall is on the main trail on the river that empties into Cropston Reservoir.
Bradgate Park in Charnwood Park, Leicestershire is open to the public and covers around 850 hectares.
Kingsmill Viadcut

The Kingsmill Viaduct in Mansfield is a National Transport Trust Historic Landmark.
It is the oldest of its kind in England, having been built more than 200 years ago in 1817.
There is also a beautiful waterfall where the water from the Kingsmill Reservoir flows just off Kingsmill Lane.
