The county’s registration staff praised the compassionate work done during the pandemic

Last week, National Registrars Day was held – July 1st to be precise – and Nottinghamshire County Council recognized the compassion and professionalism of the registration staff for continuing to provide their services during the pandemic.

Some of the staff were visited by Count Tom Smith, vice chairman of the ward council committee, and Rob Fisher, registration group leader, for the day.

Coun Smith said, “I was honored to be able to visit the registration staff on this national day and thank them for the care and professionalism they have put into important public services.

“Each of us has an opportunity to be assisted by our registration staff, and throughout the pandemic, their unwavering commitment to helping residents has been appreciated by so many.

“I am just one of many who had reason to contact our registration team, and when I recently registered my daughter’s birth, the support I received was excellent.

“The pandemic has affected life in many ways. Couples have had to cancel long-dreamed-of family weddings, and parents have experienced delays in registering the births of their newborns.

“We must not forget that in addition to these moments of celebration, our registration team is also there during the more difficult times in life.

“During the pandemic, many people who lost a family member could not end up with them, and our registrars have been largely complimented for the empathic and compassionate support they have given to the bereaved.

“As the Covid restrictions abate, our registration staff will continue to be available to support people in the most important points in life and all that remains for me is to thank them on behalf of the County Council for everything they do and continue to do will do Nottinghamshire. “
