Police name a man who appeared in court after a house fire in Radford

The police have named a man who appeared in court after an apartment fire in Nottingham.

Emergency services were called to Graham Street in Radford in the early hours of yesterday morning (January 11).

Shanwaz Aziz, 43, of Graham Street, Radford was arrested at the scene and is now charged with arson with intent to endanger lives.

According to police, he appeared in Nottingham Magistrates’ Court today (January 12) and has been taken into custody.

He will appear at Nottingham Crown Court next month.

Detective Inspector Kayne Rukas of Nottinghamshire Police said: “The emergency services were quick to handle the incident and the officers were quick to make an arrest.

“We have now charged a man in relation to this incident and we want to reassure the public that we do not believe that there is any greater risk to the community.”
