St Ann’s is home to many things including The Robin Hood Chase, The Sycamore Center – which used to be the old Sycamore School – and The Salvation Army. Throughout the years, St Ann’s has changed dramatically and with many reports of residents wanting to see more facilities in the area, we’ve compiled photos from Peter A. Richardson that has been showcased in his book: The End of an Era to showcase pictures of St Ann’s throughout the years.
Many people love St Ann’s because of the community spirit and friendliness of the area which has many people who have lived there all their lives. These photos are dated back to the 1960s where at this time, Peter Richardson was at Derby College of Art studying photojournalism.
In the 1960s, St Ann’s was set for demolition with many houses built in the 1800s, there were many people living in poor housing conditions – which is explained in Mr Richardson’s book and captured in his photography. Many of the buildings in this location no longer exist, we wondered if anyone recognizes or remembers any of the areas.
The identity of people in these photographs are unknown, do you happen to recognize anyone in any of these photos?
