Djed Spence drops a huge reference to Nottingham Forest amid loan recall fears

Nottingham Forest full-back Djed Spence has indicated that he will be at the City Ground for the remainder of the season.

Chris Wilder, manager of his parent club Middlesbrough, spoke this week about Spence’s recall in the January transfer window.

But Spence has now suggested that his near-term future could still be with Steve Cooper at Forest.

Spence was loaned out in the summer and was a shining light under head coach Cooper, and Forest fans worried about losing him in the middle of the season.

Earlier this week, Wilder told BBC Tees (via TeessideLive), “I’m going to call Steve Cooper to see if we can put Djed Spence back on the bench.

“And the same goes for Lewis Wing. And Rumarn Burrell. We have players who travel to Sheffield alone.

“People have cut corners. We haven’t. That’s real. I’m not that type of manager, this is not that type of club.

“This is 100% a Covid outbreak. We have an injury and he could play for 30 minutes. Let’s put the cards on the table. Are some clubs bending the rules to avoid a game? In my opinion 100%.”

“I am a man of integrity and honesty. I will play against everyone at eye level everywhere. We are absolutely decimated from the perspective of players and staff.”

Spence has now expressed doubts about Wilder’s plans with his latest social media post.

He wrote on Twitter: “The last 6 months of 2021 were special.

“It will only get better next year.

“New year, same goals! Let’s get to work”.
