A free parking program for critical workers in Nottingham, introduced during the Covid pandemic, has been discontinued.
In line with national guidelines, Nottingham City Council has implemented a free parking permit system for NHS and social workers, as well as others who provide direct assistance to vulnerable people in Nottingham communities.
The national program ended on June 21, and that date was not affected by the government’s decision to postpone the next phase of the timetable.
This means that critical employees can still park in the same locations but have to pay for parking or consider other modes of transport.
Councilor Rosemary Healy, Transportation Portfolio Owner, said, “The government is no longer running the free parking program for critical workers and fees for critical workers have resumed.
“However, we have plenty of parking options for commuters or alternative means of transport such as buses or trams.
“We are continuing to monitor the ongoing impact of the pandemic on travel and safe urban parking and our team is ready to act if necessary if anything changes.”
