Neil Clarke, 39, of Forest Fields, Nottingham, was accused of carrying an item with a blade and a Class A drug.

He has been put on remand to appear at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court tomorrow (Monday) at 9:30 a.m.

Nottinghamshire Police Department Detective Chief Inspector Kim Binns said: “Knife crime can have devastating effects on people’s lives and we are determined to do everything we can to prevent it.

“Once a blade is brought onto the street, it takes only a single moment of madness for a victim to be killed or seriously wounded and for a perpetrator to commit a crime that is likely to result in jail time.

“That’s why we work so hard all year round to proactively approach people who carry knives and to dissuade others from taking such risks in the future.”

This latest knife recovery comes at the end of Operation Scepter, a week-long national campaign that highlights the work of the police throughout the year to fight knife crime.

Local police teams across Nottinghamshire have carried out numerous local operations and activities over the past week to reduce knife crime. Activities included high-profile patrols with knife bows, finding hidden weapons in public places, knife amnesties, educational activities and proactive searches of suspects.
