A Nottinghamshire singer, whose career began 30 years ago when he appeared on Stars In Their Eyes, has released his debut album, which climbed to number one on the Amazon rock charts.
Newark’s Steve Steinman started a career as a performer and it all began in 1993 when he was performing some of Meat Loaf’s biggest hits on television.
Now he released his debut album “Take A Leap of Faith” on August 2nd – music inspired by Jim Steinman (no relative) who wrote some of Meat Loaf’s biggest hits, including “I Would Do Anything for Love”.
The 56-year-old, originally from Manchester, spoke to Nottinghamshire Live about his album, which was released at number 1 on the iTunes rock chart and number 6 on the Amazon rock chart.

He said, “It feels amazing to put an album right at number one. It’s my first album and I only thought of it during the lockdown.
“I’ve always been busy doing production shows where I play other people’s songs, but this is the first time I’ve put together an original soundtrack.
“However, I have such a large following that they seem desperate for me to do it. I can’t believe it came out # 1.”
Before devoting himself to rock music, Steve embarked on a career as a chef that resulted in him running his own restaurant.

During this time, Steve, encouraged by others who heard him sing, decided to run for Stars in Their Eyes.
In May he reached number 1 on the Amazon Rock Charts and number 2 on the iTunes Top 40 Rock Charts with his original single “Leap of Faith” from the album “Take a Leap of Faith”.
The album also features Lorraine Crosby, who is now starring alongside Steve on his hit show Anything For Love – The Meat Loaf Story, which airs at Nottingham’s Motorpoint Arena on December 16, 2021.
Steve is also known for his musical fantasy rock show ‘Vampires Rock’, which has attracted guest stars such as punk queen Toyah Willcox and US rock guitarist Eddie O’Jeda from the band Twisted Sister.
He added, “The album is old fashioned 80’s rock and I think that’s what people want because my album is doing well.
“My tour starts in December before we get to Nottingham later this month and I can’t wait.
“We had to cancel it several times and the fact that people kept their tickets is so amazing to me. It’s very humiliating.”
The album can be downloaded from all common streaming platforms and is also available on CD at stevesteinmanproductions.com.
