Pictures of a laughing seal and a dancing monkey are in the running to be chosen as the funniest animal photo of the year.
The pictures are under 42 on the shortlist for this year’s Comedy Wildlife Photography Awards.
Among the finalists is a picture of a gray seal pup who appears to be giggling on a beach in Ravenscar, Scarborough, named Mr Giggles, taken by Martina Novotna.
Another painting, Dancing Away To Glory by Sarosh Lodhi, shows a dancing langur in Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve, India.
Other photos show a raccoon trying to break into a house, a tiger scratching its face with a tree trunk, two kangaroos fighting, and a smiling snake.
Paul Joynson-Hicks, Co-Founder of the Awards, said, “We were blown away by the number and quality of entries we received this year with well over 7,000 photos submitted from all over the world.
“The large number of images we receive each year show the appetite there is to be involved in conservation and remind us that the wildlife is really amazing and hilarious and we must do everything we can to keep it protection.”
