Liam Peters, also known as Liam Gray, was murdered by his seventeen year old friend Jonathan Treadgold in 2019 and a documentary has been released telling the story of that fateful day.
On the afternoon of August 1, Nottinghamshire police officers were called to a house on Gladstone Street in Mansfield after a knife stab was reported inside.
Paramedics treated Liam before he was taken to Nottingham Queen’s Medical Center, where he died shortly afterwards from a single stab wound in the chest.

Liam was only 18 years old when he was fatally stabbed.
Liam’s grandfather, John Barry, affectionately known as “Pops,” who witnessed the stabbing and whose staggering 999 calls featured on the show, paid tribute to his grandson.
He said, “Liam, I miss you terribly – I’ve tried so hard to help you and I live this day every day.
“My best wasn’t good enough and I’m so sorry, I hope you are happy with the angels, love you forever.”
The documentary, titled Britain’s Deadliest Kids, will air on August 14th and will cover the tragic events that led to Liam’s death and his relationship with his killer – who is currently serving at least 16 years for his murder.
Jonathan Treadgold fatally stabbed his friend Liam in the heart.
Examining Treadgold’s upbringing and the events that led to Liam’s death, the program shares harrowing footage of paramedics and police bodycams and the unsettling 999 call of Liam’s grandfather.
Liam’s mother, Joanne Peters, spoke frankly during the documentary and paid tribute to her son: “As Liam’s mother, my life is still devastated two years later.
“This monster will never know what it took from us.
“The loss we still feel is so raw, but if just helping one family tell Liam’s story to the world, it is comforting.

“Liam will be forever missing from an entire community and his name will live on forever.”
The 45-minute show features critical CCTV footage of the events leading up to the stabbing and the events that led to the final arrest of Treadgold just 30 minutes after he fatally stabbed his friend.
Treadgold had originally alleged that Liam tried to stab him first and bullied him for some time, but as the documentary shows, officials investigating his version of the events gathered the evidence and checked the social services records to determine that he had not acted in self-defense and his previous scars were self-inflicted.
He was found guilty on February 7, 2020 after a ten-day trial in Nottingham Crown Court, with the jury reaching a unanimous verdict.

Liam had just become a father on July 18th and his now two-year-old daughter Isla is being looked after by his sister Paige.
Paige paid tribute to her brother and said, “I hope we all make Liam proud, I remind Isla of him every day.
“She’s getting so big and learning new things all the time – she definitely has Liam’s personality, some days I think Liam sent her to test my patience, but I wouldn’t change it for the world.
“We will all love Liam forever.”
Liam’s death shocked the entire community in 2019, and his friends paid tribute to the popular teenager on the second anniversary of his death.
Tegan Brooks said, “Liam, you were an absolute darling – I have so many memories to keep and I am so grateful for them.
“You made everyone proud when you were here and your family and friends make you proud every day.” I miss you and will always love you. “
Friend Hollie Allott added, “I miss you more than ever, I wish you were still here.
“I will always cherish our friendship, you were kidnapped far too soon.
“Take a rest, I love you.”
Friend AJ Bombiza described the “amazing” person who always had a smile on his face.
She said, “Liam was such a great person, he was always caught with the biggest smile on his face.
“He would always make you laugh – honestly, if you knew Liam you would agree that everyone had the best times with him.
“I wish I had hugged you tighter the last time I saw you and missed you more and more every day.”
Liam’s ex-teacher from Newgate Lane, Helen Allott, also paid tribute to her ex-student.
She said, “Liam, you were a diamond in the rough with a heart of gold.
“Always caring for everyone else and always ready to share happiness with your infectious smile.” You have loved and loved, your legacy lives on in your beautiful daughter. “
