Couple of ‘mini standing ovations’ after getting engaged at popular Nottingham Bar

A popular Nottingham venue congratulated a couple after becoming engaged in the first week after the lockdown.

The engagement took place on Thursday, April 15th, in the bodega’s new Secret Garden and resulted in a “mini standing ovation” in the seating area.

The couple, who have not yet been identified, also saw the proposal “got a lot of gossip” before they were given a bottle of Prosecco by bodega staff.

Following the proposal, a venue spokesman said the staff were “so excited” that the couple decided to make the bodega “a special place for them”.

“The proposal certainly came as a surprise to everyone,” they told Nottinghamshire Live.

“The couple said they always loved coming to the venue so it was a great honor.

“We immediately sent a bottle of Prosecco to celebrate and we were so excited that people not only chose our venue to have one of their first nights in a while, but it has now become such a special place for them too.”

“While everyone was still sitting at their tables, there was a lot of clapping and small standing ovations, the best we could all do in a socially distant way.

“Hopefully we can see you again in a few months for a proper celebration. And maybe even a couple of bodega lager at the reception!”

The bodega shared the picture on social media and asked the press that people do not need to wear masks in the venue when they are seated at tables.

Comments from Facebook users about wearing masks in the picture follow.
