Michelin-star pub The Reindeer opened in Nottinghamshire village

This month, Michelin star Head Chef Michael Carr brings over 15 years of culinary experience to the countryside in partnership with Nottinghamshire entrepreneur and CEO of the Year Sean Reddington.

Previously having headed up some of London and Yorkshire’s top Michelin-starred restaurants such as Sky Garden’s Level 37 and Fenchurch, Michael brings his expertise in fine dining to a whole new countryside venture, focusing on modern British dishes and unique customer experiences.

The head chef will join Sean Reddington in an Exec Head role as he takes his culinary talents to Nottingham.

In addition to joining the team at popular gastro-fusion restaurant The Old Vol, today, Sean and Michael opened doors to a brand new Nottingham village pub, The Reindeer.

The quintessentially British venue is located in the picturesque village of Hoveringham, dating back to the 18th century.

The menu focuses on a selection of wide-ranging small plates and pub classics with a twist, and chef Michael is on a mission to deliver top-quality dining, delivered with class and comfort across the board.

Michael Carr said: “My main reason for joining these two fantastic establishments is Sean. I wanted to be part of the big picture and building this operation up together really gets my creative juices flowing, especially with all the current talent we have in the business.

“It’s such an exciting change to be a part of, and a new challenge for me while I get accustomed to Nottingham soil! I cannot wait to get stuck in.’

CEO Sean, who was recently a finalist for this year’s Great British Entrepreneur Awards, took over and revamped The Old Vol in December 2021, and since hiring an award-winning team of chefs, the gastropub has been greeted with critical acclaim from food critics and awarded the coveted AA Rosette award.

Sean Reddington says:

“This is a fantastic opportunity to bring one of the country’s best chefs to Nottingham and inject innovation and daring into its culinary scene.

“With The Old Vol’s gastro-fusion menu, The Reindeer’s pub classics and plans for a fine dining experience in the city center soon, our vision is to offer somewhere to eat for every occasion, with the finest food and incredible service as standard.”

Sharing kitchen talent from The Old Vol, staff at The Reindeer will be made up of existing employees who will work across both sites, creating a team of 45 members of staff across the two venues.

Sean and Michael will also be opening a third location in the county which will be a fine-dining restaurant, proposed for Nottingham’s city center in the new year.

The Reindeer pub opened its doors today on Main St, Hoveringham, Nottingham NG14 7JR and The Old Vol is located at 61 Caythorpe Rd, Caythorpe, Lowdham, Nottingham.
