Splendor 2008: Nostalgic pictures of fans at the first Nottingham Festival

While we may not have been able to gather for Splendor 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic, tickets are currently on sale for July 2021 as the country cautiously emerges from its third lockdown.

With that in mind, let’s take a good look back at the fun we’ve had at Splendor over the past 13 years.

The first Splendor Festival started in 2008 in Wollaton Park. Originally it was a two day event that included Kate Nash, Paolo Nutini, Ocean Color Scene, and Rufus Wainwright.

A year later, it became a one-day event under the heading of Madness with the Pogues and Fun Lovin ‘Criminals.

2011 saw record-breaking attendance, with the crowd taking in the incredibly fun set of the Scissor Sisters and classic hits from ’80s icon Blondie.

Clifton’s Jake Bugg made his Splendor debut in 2012, while Dizzee Rascal took off and a year later, Bugg led the bill.

If you were in the crowd between 2008 and 2017, you might see yourself in our gallery.
