The most memorable and craziest evenings in Nottingham’s most famous clubs

Nottingham is known for its lively nightlife with dozens of pubs, bars and of course nightclubs that draw people from all over the world.

The days we dance all night long now feel like a long distant memory as the coronavirus pandemic has restricted our lives more severely.

But who doesn’t like to remember those memorable moments like Palais, Astoria, Rock City and MGM?

We asked readers on the Nottinghamshire Live Facebook page what happened to you the most at a Nottinghamshire nightclub – and you did it.

Paul Heathcote commented, “To see Ozzy Osbourne making a free unannounced gig in Rock City!”

Kerry Birch said, “Falling off the podium in Moda and not feeling anything until the next day. My tailbone hurt for weeks.”

Teri McDonnall said, “Take off my shoes because they hurt and go home without them. I didn’t notice until the next day!” We were all there, Teri.

Meanwhile, one eventful evening, Janet Syson had a brush with a celebrity. She added, “In the 1970s he danced next to this huge man at the Bables nightclub. He turned out to be Joe Bugner, the boxer. He had the biggest hands!”

Mollie Anne Hoult said: “I broke my ankle in Pryzm and closed the club!”

Kelly Bateman said, “Passed out in Jumping Jacks and ran out by the bouncer! I was freezing sober and just had a funny twist.”

Paul Johnson added, “Fall backwards down the stairs at Zhivago while he’s a little tipsy. Tried to play cool and went to the bar and ordered a beer like I was going to do it all.”

David Fairweather said, “I fell asleep in the Rock City restrooms and was locked up.” Oh David.
