AAfter a starring role in Line of Duty as the perma-professional DI Kate Fleming, and a Bafta-winning turn in Shane Meadows’s mods drama This Is England ’86, Vicky McClure has her pick of the parts. But for her latest project the actress chose to work with a plumber who approached her while she was doing the weekly shop at her local Tesco in Nottingham. She helped to produce his short film and did the voiceover for it.
“I’ve seen a lot worse short films, for sure. A lot of people start with something like that and before you know it they’ve made a feature film,” McClure, 39, says. She’s open to more strangers coming up to her with ideas, saying: “Bring it on.”
